30June Spring Green Champ!
Written by Super User

I am pleased as punch to announce that I was awarded first place in the glass artistry category at the Spring Green Art Fair on June 28-29, 2014.  There were many talented glass artists in attendance so not only was I amazed that I won, I am also extremely honored!  Thanks to everybody who stopped by to say hi and to check out what I've been up to lately.  If you didn't make it to Spring Green (maybe those ugly looking storm clouds kept you away....) and would like to see my glass in person, please consider checking out the Fitchburg Agora Art Fair, August 16.  Hope to see you there!

New Website
Written by Super User   Written on 25.05.2012

I am very excited to welcome you to my new website!  I am really happy with the new layout and hope that you like it too.

If you are familiar with my previous website you'll notice something missing from this one:  an e-commerce component.  There are a couple of reasons for this.  First and foremost, my old website was constantly getting hacked and infected with viruses.  Apparently having a website that accepts people's personal information invites this sort of antisocial behavior.  In retrospect I suppose that's not too surprising.

Secondly, it is _extremely_ difficult to sell glass on a website.  Glass is one of those things that begs to be seen, picked up, held up to light and.... well, it begs to be touched as part of the selection process.  It's taken me a few years to realize this unintuitive fact:  glass is a tactile experience.  Instead of trying to sell glass on my website I've opted to simply post pictures of my pieces and to write about what's new and exciting in the world of fused glass.  Of course, I always accept inquiries into my work - just shoot me an email!

Let me know what you think about the site.  I'd love to hear your thoughts!

The Vinery Sign

NEWS FLASH!!!  THE VINERY HAS MOVED!  It is now located at 1422 MacArthur Road, Madison.

If fusing glass together is something that sounds interesting to you and you'd like to learn more, I've got great news for you!  The Vinery Glass Studio in Madison, WI offers wonderful courses for you to take.

I've been fortunate to teach some of the techniques that I use in my glasswork at The Vinery.  Topics include:

  • pattern bar creation and integration
  • combed glass
  • glass strip constructed bowls and plates
  • scrap box creation, design and integration
  • weekend 'three techniques, three bowls' workshop

If any (or all!) of these topics sound interesting to you, please contact The Vinery for class dates and times.  I'll try to keep this website updated with the dates for my classes as well.  Hope to see you there!
